Our first
OPEN DAY
August 18th 2007
When we decided to have an Open Day we knew it would be hard work but we didn't realise how much fun it would be too.
|
Walsall Road Allotments are set inside Perry Park so to make it easier for visitors to find us we decided to put a scarecrow outside the gates. |

We were raising funds for the County Air Ambulance who supplied us with banners and collection boxes.
|
|
We had a plant stall - all donated by plot-holders and our neighbours at Thornbridge Avenue Allotments. |
Tom and Dave at the Produce stall. This was very popular, with people queueing up to buy the freshly-picked vegetables.

Local woodturner Steve Heeley gave a demonstration of his craft. Visit Steve's website

The cake stall was very popular and we are grateful for the many donations of cakes we received.
|
Lots of books were donated |

It was quite a tiring day, but well worth it because we raised £1008 for the County Air Ambulance. We are very grateful to everyone who helped with the preparations and those who gave their time on the day. Many thanks to our neighbours at Thornbridge Avenue Allotments who very generously lent us lots of their equipment.
We presented a cheque for £1008 to Bob Burlton, the volunteer co-ordinator from the County Air Ambulance.
